Coming To Terms

(100 words)

The space had always troubled her.  It was too eclectic, too busy.  Modern computers clashed with old world artistic images.  Bottles were perched so impossibly high, they defied being of any use.  Light bounced off of everything.  That he loved this place was but another major difference between them.

The bell over the door jingled, causing her to straighten her back with a start.  It was either going to be the beginning or the end.  She quickly glanced down at the blade in her lap before gazing up to interpret the expression on his face as he turned the corner.
