Friday Fictioneers – Hello, Mom?

Friday Fictioneers is sponsored by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields.  The idea is to write a 100 word story with a beginning, middle and end based on the photo prompt.

She could buy her way out.  She laughed quietly thinking, what a fucking genius idea.  For fifty cents she could make the call that would likely save her life.  She could make the call from the same hot pink, dirty phone booth that she had repeatedly used to get herself into this mess.  Oh, the irony.

She wiped vomit from the side of her mouth and winced with pain.  Catching her breath, she listened hard.  Cats.  Just filthy animals rummaging through the bins.  She’d kicked one once.  She looked back to the phone, her broken and twisted legs useless beneath her.

    • Thank you, Maggie. I do try to write, I guess ‘dabble’ in writing would be a better description for it. I’m thrilled that you are enjoying the stories and think they’re good.

  1. Wowee … you nailed it. The cat being kicked, the pay phone for other things and broken legs. I’d say dreams derailed or never pursued here. And then why would she have a dream if the mom pays her way … utter genius here, girlfriend. Cheers.

    • Hey gardenlilie,
Thanks for you awesome comment. I’m just working my way through the first batch of fellow fictioneers. The prompt was a doozie this week!

  2. Would like to know what mess she’s got herself into, and then on second reading I think I’d prefer to use my imaginaion. Her futile anger comes across really clearly.

Hit it....
